UK Wealth Management - Customer Case Study

UK Wealth Management (UKWM) is a UK financial services firm that provides advisory and investment management services. After migrating to a XenApp virtual desktop environment and moving infrastructure to IaaS, UKWM faced a problem with aging PC endpoints and a third of users on laptops; a previous pilot of two dozen thin clients failed to support smart card readers, dictation software and reliable management, leaving the IT team unable to fully retire their thick-client estate.

UKWM evaluated and deployed a mix of 10ZiG 8848c Citrix Zero Clients and 10ZiG 5617v Windows Embedded Thin Clients, together with 10ZiG Manager. The devices worked out of the box, supported smart cards, dual screens and fast boot to XenApp, and dramatically reduced endpoint management overhead. UKWM reports near-zero day-to-day support, lower power use (12W per device) and estimated savings of up to £250,000 over three years, with further benefits expected as rollout continues.
