A 10ZiG Case Study
Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School District, a PK–12 district in Mechanicsburg, Ohio serving 900 students and 80 teachers across three buildings, faced the costly and time-consuming burden of maintaining more than 500 aging Dell desktops with a one-person IT team. As the district moved toward VMware Horizon View virtual desktops, it needed a reliable, low‑maintenance endpoint and a stronger infrastructure to reduce failures, labor, and energy use.
The district piloted 28 10ZiG Zero Clients and then deployed 10ZiG 5848v units across 60 classrooms and three labs, using the free 10ZiG Enterprise Management utility for fast remote provisioning and firmware updates. The rollout halved the remaining physical-to-virtual conversion so far, cut per‑device energy costs to under 10% of the old PCs, eliminated routine hardware repairs, improved performance and reliability, enabled remote student use, and delivered clear ROI and ongoing scalability for future needs.
